On today’s show, Jennifer discusses pet-friendly events for the summer weekend including Rescue Row at the state fairgrounds in Salem, a Paws for Parkinson’s benefit walk in Portland and a free pet 1st aid workshop at Dove Lewis.
There is also a meet-and-greet with Born Again Pit Bull Rescue at Sellwood Dog Supply, a Humane Society of SW Washington kitten shower over in Vancouver, a cat adoption event thru Cat Adoption Team Broadway Rose theater's production of CATS, and a peaceful protest Bully Walk to join in solidarity against BSL.
For those who need a little help in the pet food department, Cat Adoption Team and Pongo Fund pet food banks are open this weekend, Rabbit Advocates are at PetCo in Tigard offering info about adoptable rabbits and light grooming and nail trims for bunnies, and finally, Jennifer gives a shout out to Pet Aid 2013 on Sunday, a Sellwood Riverfront Park concert by local bands celebrating Portland’s love of animals as a benefit for Multnomah County Animal Shelter.
Jennifer also discusses the importance of being aware of toxic algae poisoning, which can be fatal to animals, and provides prevention and safety tips to keep your critters safe this season while enjoying summertime hiking or swimming around area lakes.
